Celtic Plus : Two proposals about Future Internet


Celtic Plus, the EUREKA cluster on Future Internet and connectivity issues two calls for proposals a year. The next deadlines are 21 May and 15 October 2012, with a "Proposers' Day" in Berlin on 3 July 2012. 

Moreover, Celtic Plus intends to be a driving force in Europe and beyond for future “greener” telecommunications. Three major challenges are addressed:
- make environmental issues
- encourage better energy efficiency
- develop multidisciplinary solutions.

New telecoms rules for the benefit of citizens and businesses

As from 25May 2011, Europeans will enjoy new rights and services regarding telephony and Internet. The new telecom rules will include:

-Higher levels of consumer protection and more choice such as the ability to switch fixed or mobile phone operator without changing phone number within one working day

-Improved online privacy and safety providing better protection against personal data breaches and "spam" as well as better information and consent requirements for storing or accessing information in users' devices

-More consistent regulation across the EU

Reinforcing the Single Market for telecoms services is a key objective of the Digital Agenda for Europe.
