EMF reinforces links with the ICT sector in the Indian Ocean (Mauritius & Madagascar)

Following a first meeting in February 2011 in Port Louis / Mauritius, representatives of EMF and key ICT intermediary organisations of Mauritius and Madagascar met again in Brussels on 22-23 March. Both meetings were sponsored by the Pro-Invest Programme of the EU. Their aim was to discuss means to improve the collaboration between ICT organisations of the Indian Ocean and Europe.

The 2 days meeting in Brussels gathered representatives of EMF, The Mauritius Chamber of Commerce (MCCI) and Mauritius and Madagascar? ICT associations (OTAM and GOTICOM). It examined items such as membership and information exchange, joint project development, support for business expansion and commercial & research partnerships, the participation of the Indian Ocean region in the European Seal of e-Excellence.

The European Seal of e-Excellence winners awarded at the CeBIT

The 36 winners of the European Seal of e-Excellence 2011 were announced today at CeBIT in Hannover, Germany. Innovative companies from 18 countries joined the award ceremony to receive the award from the hands of jury members.

Apart from the traditional Platinum, Silver and Gold categories, 5 companies from Argentina, (G&L Group and Hexacta),Costa Rica (SmartSoft) and Mexico (Neuromarketing and Soluciones Tecnologicas) won the Special Mention Seal for Latin America and 3 companies obtained the Special Mention Seal for Language Technologies (Bitext Innovations -Spain-, Wordbee -Luxembourg- and Lingosaur -Finland-).

The event is now concluding with a cocktail sponsored by the Umbria Region in Italy and Soft Economy.

EMF reinforcing the ICT sector in the Indian Ocean (Mauritius & Madagascar)

EMF actively participated in a Pro-Invest-sponsored meeting in Mauritius on 15-17 February 2011 to share best practises and experiences with the aim of reinforcing the ICT sector in the Indian Ocean.

The event held in Port Louis was attended by many key ICT actors from Mauritius and Madagascar including associations (OTAM, GOTICOM), The Mauritius Chamber of Commerce (MCCI) and private companies.

A second meeting to reinforce the ICT sector in the Indian Ocean will be held in Brussels during the coming weeks.
